Working to get a power wheelchair can be a taxing process. However our representatives at Aeroflow Inc. can assist with taking all the trouble out of it for you. We work as a lesion between you, your doctor, and your insurance company to get you the power wheelchair that is best fitted to your needs. Here’s how we do it in three easy steps:
#1- We will contact you to have you set up a face to face mobility evaluation with your doctor. This is a requirement to get insurance pay for your power wheelchair. Once you confirm with us that you have an appointment with your doctor we’ll send both you and your doctor some paperwork on how to complete the mobility evaluation.
#2- You’ll go to your doctor’s office, at which time all your mobility restrictions will be documented in the office notes and added to you your medical records. Once your doctor completes the notes and the order for your power wheelchair they will fax it to us.
#3- We will review all the information that your doctor provides to ensure medical criterion is met. This is where it sometimes gets tricky. Occasionally, we need to request additional information from your doctor to make certain insurance will cover the power wheelchair. Once we have all the correct information and all needed documents, which comply with your insurance standards, we will either internally approve or send the paperwork to your insurance company for prior authorization. A prior authorization is just when we have to send all the information to your insurance company before we deliver the power wheelchair so they can look over everything and make sure it will be covered. This step usually takes the longest amount of time, but our dedicated representatives will keep you updated and call you periodically throughout the waiting period.
That’s it! Once the power wheelchair is approved by either our internal approvals department or we are given prior authorization by your insurance, we will contact you to schedule a delivery. Depending on where you live the delivery time is usually between 1-2 weeks.
