As of 2011, Moms can use Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to purchase breastfeeding products, including breastpumps, breastfeeding accessories, and breastpump spare parts.
What is FSA?
Simply put, it’s an account where you contribute money from your salary BEFORE taxes are withheld then get reimbursed for your out-of-pocket health care and dependent care expenses.
What will my FSA plan cover?
New and expectant moms can use FSA funds for breastfeeding products, including breastpumps, breastfeeding accessories and breastpump spare parts. Better yet, all of your favorite Medela products are covered by FSA!
Your plan may have certain restrictions, please contact your benefit provider for specific information.
FSA Shopping List
We recommend you contact your FSA plan provider to understand the specifics of your plan. You might find that after talking to your FSA provider you must use your FSA funds by December 31st or loose what has been accrued. Because of the common end-of-year deadline, most moms use their FSA funds between the months of October – December.
When putting together your FSA shopping list, it is helpful to categorize your options by the following categories:
- FSA Breastpumps
- FSA Breast Care Products
- FSA Breastpump Storage & Feeding
- FSA Breastpump Cleaning Supplies
- FSA Authentic Breastpump Spare Parts
